Basic Information
Q: Why is Atani transitioning from USDT to USDC?
A: This transition is necessary to comply with the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, which requires cryptocurrency platforms operating in the European Economic Area to use compliant stablecoins. USDC has received regulatory approval under MiCA, while USDT has not.
Q: When will this transition take place?
A: The transition will begin on March 27, 2025. After this date, all trading on Atani Exchange will be in USDC instead of USDT.
Q: What is MiCA and why does it affect stablecoins?
A: MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets) is a comprehensive regulatory framework created by the European Union to regulate digital assets. It includes specific requirements for stablecoins regarding reserves, redemption rights, and issuer oversight. Only stablecoins that meet these requirements can be offered to users in the European Economic Area.
Q: Which stablecoins are affected by this change?
A: The following stablecoins will be affected by MiCA regulations: USDT, FDUSD, TUSD, USDP, DAI, USTC and PAXG. There may be others affected as well. Of these, USDT has the most significant impact on our platform as it's used as a quote currency.
Impact on Your Assets
Q: What will happen to my USDT holdings after March 27?
A: Any USDT not converted by March 27 will be placed in withdrawal-only mode. After this date, you will only be able to withdraw your USDT to another platform. Trading with USDT and the option to convert USDT to USDC will no longer be available after March 27, as there will be no USDT markets on Atani Exchange.
Q: Will all cryptocurrencies currently trading against USDT be available with USDC?
A: Not all cryptocurrencies will have USDC trading pairs immediately. We've published a list of all trading pairs that will be available in USDC at https://help.atani.com/usdc-markets. This list will be updated regularly until the transition date.
Q: How can I check which cryptocurrencies will have USDC trading pairs?
A: We've created a dedicated support page at https://help.atani.com/usdc-markets that lists all cryptocurrencies that will have USDC trading pairs available on March 27. This list will be updated regularly as we add more pairs before the transition. After the transition, you can view all available trading pairs directly in the Atani app.
Q: What happens to cryptocurrencies that don't have USDC trading pairs?
A: Cryptocurrencies without USDC trading pairs will be placed in withdrawal-only mode. You can withdraw these assets at any time, and we'll be working to add USDC trading pairs for more assets over time.
Q: Will my open orders be affected?
A: Yes, all open orders will be automatically canceled on March 27 before the transition. You'll need to place new orders in the USDC markets after the transition.
